PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a plasma display panel which secures high intensity and high reliability in spite of a high definition display and furthermore, takes an environmental problem into consideration. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel wherein a front plate 2 obtained by forming a display electrode 6, a dielectric layer 8, and a protective layer 9 on a glass substrate and a back plate obtained by forming an electrode, a partition wall, and a phosphor layer on a substrate are arranged so as to face each other and a discharge space is formed by hermetically sealing the edges of the plates, the dielectric layer 8 of the front plate 2 contains at least CaO and BaO in addition to Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and a CaO content expressed in mol% is higher than a BaO content expressed in mol%.
