Road milling machine and method for producing parallelism of the machines frame with the ground

The machine (1) has a chassis for supporting a machine frame (4) via lifting columns (12, 13). A milling roller (6) is mounted on the frame for machining a ground/road surface (8). A controller (23) regulates and determines the milling depth of the milling roller from measured values of a measuring instrument. The controller automatically regulates the lifted state of lifting column in relation to the direction of travel, in order to position the machine frame parallel to the ground/road surface or a predefined milling plane. An independent claim is also included for a method for positioning a machine frame parallel to a ground surface.
