Provided is a bumper reinforcement which is capable of improving the peak load and the amount of energy absorption per unit mass by suppressing the cross-sectional deformation of a closed cross-section in the shape of a so-called inverted hat. The bumper reinforcement (1) is equipped with a reinforcing body (10A) which is provided, within a long box (2), at the center in the longitudinal direction of the long box (2). The rear surface (21) of the reinforcing body (10A) faces the rear surface (4) of the long box (2) and is fixed to the rear surface (4) of the long box (2). The upper surface (24) of the reinforcing body (10A) faces the upper surface (5) of the long box (2) in the vicinity of the upper surface (5) of the long box (2). The lower surface (25) of the reinforcing body (10A) faces the lower surface (6) of the long box (2) in the vicinity of the lower surface (6) of the long box (2).
