PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device that, when transferring a toner image on an intermediate transfer body onto a recording medium, can suppress the occurrence of scattering of the toner image due to an air held and compressed between the intermediate transfer body and the recording medium.SOLUTION: A transfer device comprises: a transfer member 34 that transfers a toner image held on an intermediate transfer body 26 making a circulation movement while holding the toner image onto a recording medium; an opposing member 32 that is arranged to be in pressure-contact with the transfer member 34 with the intermediate transfer body 26 therebetween; and a preload member 60 that is arranged to be in pressure-contact with the transfer member 34 with the intermediate transfer body 26 therebetween on the upstream side along a direction of movement of the intermediate transfer body 26 with respect to a contact part where the opposing member 32 is in pressure-contact with the transfer member 34 and at a position immediately after the toner image held on the intermediate transfer body 26 starts contact with the recording medium. A pressure applied by the preload member is weaker than the pressure at which the opposing member is in contact with the transfer member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
