This film exterior body for batteries is used for a battery that includes: an electrode group comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer interposed therebetween; and an exterior body that seals and houses the electrode group. The film exterior body comprises a gas barrier layer and a seal layer that is laminated on one surface of the gas barrier layer and that contains a first resin, wherein the gas barrier layer includes a first metal layer having a Young's modulus not higher than 65×109 N/m2, and the thickness T1 of the first metal layer is larger than 5 µm but not larger than 200 µm.
