In a resolver, a first detection coil group, a second detection coil group, and a plurality of excitation coils are provided on a detection stator core. The first detection coil group has a plurality of first coils as detection coils. The second detection coil group has, as detection coils, a plurality of second coils having a different detection voltage phase than the first coils. The excitation coils are wound around each tooth of the detection stator core. The first coils and second coils are wound around different teeth without being wrapped around the same tooth. A detection coil and excitation coil wrapped around the same tooth are disposed so as to be separated from each other in the radial direction.
