PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethane sponge roll having a sponge layer excellent in roll size precision and surface cell numerical aperture and uniform in surface cell diameter by forming the sponge layer around a mandrel, removing a skin layer formed concurrently, and opening the cells directly below the skin layer on the outer periphery. SOLUTION: A skin layer portion constituting the surface of the sponge layer 42 of a coarse roll body is removed by the peeling action of an adhesive tape, cells 46 located directly below the skin layer are opened, and a urethane sponge roll 60 having an extremely high cell numerical aperture equal to that of a conventional polished sponge roll is formed. The size precision of this urethane sponge roll 60 is ensured by a molding die as a whole, and a product with little size irregularity can be obtained after the skin layer portion is removed. The urethane sponge roll 60 having the extremely high surface numerical aperture and good roll size precision can be provided. |
