PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive device keeping driving loss small, made excellent in responsiveness and mobility and also suitably mounted on a compact camera. SOLUTION: The lens drive device is equipped with a yoke 7 having a U-shaped cross section and formed cylindrically, a base 2 to which the yoke 7 is attached, a magnet 6 arranged inside the U-shaped part of the yoke 7, a 1st lens supporting body 10 which is arranged on the inner periphery side of the yoke 7 and the magnet 6 and on whose outer circumference a 1st coil 9 is fixed, and a 2nd lens supporting body 5 which is arranged on the inner periphery side of the 1st coil 9 and on whose outer circumference a 2nd coil 4 is fixed. The 1st and the 2nd lens supporting bodies 10 and 5 move linearly in the optical axis direction of a lens by electromagnetic force generated by energizing the coils 9 and 4.
