<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator which can be reduced in size and thickness, while sufficiently securing the moving distance of a mechanical element, an optical element, etc. <P>SOLUTION: A displacement in a uniaxial direction output from a drive member 1 such as a piezoelectric element is transmitted to a movable member 3, while enlarging a displacement amount, by a displacement enlarging mechanism 2 with a specific structure which is provided with a plurality of levers 20 arranged along the transmission direction of the displacement, a fixed portion 21 supporting these levers 20, an elastically deformable joint for a supporting point 22 forming the supporting point of the lever, and an elastically deformable joint for the point where force is applied 23 forming the point where force is applied of the lever.
