PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power train for an automobile.SOLUTION: A multimode continuous variation transmission of a power train for an automobile includes a continuous variable unit which is connected to a planetary gear set device. The planetary gear set device substantially includes two planetary gear sets, two brakes and one clutch, and provides a plurality of ratio selection modes between the continuous variable unit and a transmission output member. The transmission output member is connected to a chain drive final having only three rotating shafts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2A
