PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discriminating the division of an image (IM) into different areas consisting of one set of coefficients expressing at least part of the image in order to insert a set of electronic watermark signals having a prescribed cardinal number to the image. SOLUTION: The method is characterized in that it includes a step (E2) where a set of permissible division parts is generated, a step (E3) where the error probability in detection of an electronic watermark signal inserted to the permissible divisions by each permissible division is calculated, and a step (E3) where one division is selected among a set of the permissible divisions by minimizing the error probability of a selected division area receiving a restriction to the cardinal number of a area with respect to the cardinal number (C) of a set of the electronic watermark signal as to all the permissible divisions. |
