The cladding element (2) for a wall (1) and/or a ceiling has a tensioning frame over which is stretched a flexible end face material (6), and a fastening element for the fastening of the tensioning frame to the wall or ceiling. The cladding element between the fastening element and tensioning frame has at least one pivotable hinge connection with a means of adjustment. The means of adjustment are constructed in such a way that they allow an alignment of the tensioning frame in relation to the fastening element in at least one, especially two, and preferably three spatial directions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a use for a cladding element which is as a wall and/or ceiling cladding for an acoustic wall or ceiling; and (b) a wall and/or ceiling cladding comprising a number of cladding elements.
