PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compromise rail previously cut in a factory for replacing a railroad rail, and to provide a rail replacing method using the compromise rail. SOLUTION: The railroad rail is replaced when worn or damaged beyond an allowable limit. When its section worn or damaged beyond the allowable limit is cut off and replaced with a new rail, a step is formed at a joint between the new rail and an existing rail. To avoid the step, a compromise rail which is previously cut in a factory for making a gentle inclination is manufactured, carried to a rail replacement site and applied between the new rail and the existing rail. Thus, the step between the existing rail and the new rail is avoided by the inclination of the compromise rail, achieving smooth operation without causing the rocking of a train.
