PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper mis-insertion preventing mechanism, formed compact-sized and light-weighted, simplifying the constitution, and applicable to a portable printer. SOLUTION: This paper mis-insertion preventing mechanism 20 is formed in a lid unit 16 provided on an upper part 12 of a casing 11. The mechanism includes: a first passage 31 for inserting manual feed paper sheet 23 from a paper feeding part 26 facing the outside and guiding the inserted manual feed paper sheet 23 to a printing part 25; a second passage 32 provided below the first passage 31 to be released by opening the lid unit 16 for guiding the continuous form 22 fed from a storing part 13 of the casing 11 to the printing part 25; and a stopper means 35 having a stopper piece 36 moved backward from the other passage when it projects into one of the first and second passages 31, 32 and a pressing spring member 37 energizing the stopper piece 36 to project into the second passage 32.
