PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to safely and easily remove weld burning created on an internal surface of an austenitic stainless steel container having only a narrow opening. SOLUTION: The cylindrical airtight container provided with a small opening made from austenitic stainless steel has an electrode covered with a cloth for preventing electric short circuit, which is arranged so as to be in contact with a weld line in the container, a feeder for feeding an electrolyte solution to the cloth, and a permanent magnet, an electromagnet, or a magnetic material which is mounted integrally with the electrode. Meanwhile, a magnet is arranged in a fixed position on a weld line around the periphery of the container so that it faces the magnet in the container with a container wall inserted between these magnets and attracts the magnet in the container. The electrode is allowed to be in close contact with the weld line by the attractive force by magnetism. While the container is rotated about the axis, or the magnet itself arranged outside the container is moved on the weld line around the periphery of the container, electrolytic treatment is carried out between the electrode in the container and the container used as the other electrode. Thus, stains such as weld burning and rust on the weld line in the container are removed, and passivation treatment is carried out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
