PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate observation of a site which is required to be observed such as an affected site, by a bright fluorescent image without increasing an output of a light source. SOLUTION: A fluorescence observation device 1 is provided with: a wide band excitation means 7 for irradiating a body cavity surface with an excitation light of a wide band which can excite a plurality of fluorescent substances contained in a subject A; a narrow band excitation means 8 for irradiating the body cavity surface with an excitation light of a narrow band which can excite at least one of the fluorescent substances; an excitation band switching means 9 for switching the wide band excitation means 7 and the narrow band excitation means 8; and a fluorescence detecting means 15 having a detection wavelength band where fluorescence from the subject A by both excitation light in the wide band and the excitation light in the narrow band can be detected can be detected.
