PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet which provides characters or images having no print blemish resulting from powder omission while ensuring thermal transfer property of the protective layer.SOLUTION: A thermal transferrable ink layer 3 and a protective layer 4 are installed in order in such a manner that they may not be overlapped in the longitudinal direction of a base material sheet 2 on one surface 2a of the base material sheet 2. Then, a heat-resistant sliding layer 5 is installed on the other surface 2b of the base material sheet 2 to constitute the thermal transfer sheet 1. The protective layer 4 is constituted by laminating a release layer 6, a peeling layer 7 and an adhesive layer 8 in this order. The peeling layer 7 is constituted of a film thickness increasing region 7a and a film thickness fixed region 7b which continues from the film thickness increasing region 7a. When the length of the film thickness increasing region is l, the film thickness (minimum film thickness) on the boundary line A side to the thermal transferrable ink layer 3 of the film thickness increasing region 7a is h, and the film thickness (maximum film thickness) on one edge side of the base material sheet 2 is h, the values of (h-h)/l and h/hsatisfy the following formulas: 7.0×10≤(h-h)/l≤1.5×10and 0.6≤h/h≤0.8. |
