The present invention relates to an operation method and an apparatus for a secondary key map of a portable terminal, allowing a user to input a certain character more quickly and conveniently. The present invention includes: a storage unit storing at least one prime key map generated according to a preset standard and at least one secondary key map linked with the prime key map; a control unit controlling to output the prime key map and the secondary key map at the same time according to an input signal for the output of the prime key; and a touch screen outputting the prime key map and the secondary key map. |
