The present invention provides a rubber composition for a tire having a balanced improvement in fuel efficiency, wear resistance and on-ice performance, and a pneumatic tire using the same. The present invention pertains to a rubber composition for a tire containing predetermined amounts of natural rubber, butadiene rubber, silica, and a silane coupling agent represented by a specific formula.
