PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a billet lubricant for hot pipe making, and a hot pipe making method using the billet lubricant that can ensure excellent lubricating ability while avoiding a problem caused by cracking of a glass molding material in hot pipe making.SOLUTION: A lubricant used when performing hot pipe making of billet which is a material, is a sheet formed of glass fiber. For example, when hollow billet 1 is charged in a container 2 to perform hot stretch-out boring using a plug 3, a billet lubricant 8 for hot pipe making can be used as a lubricant arranged on the upper face of the hollow billet 1. Since the billet lubricant 8 for hot pipe making is a glass fiber sheet with flexibility, a problem caused by cracking in the glass molding material can be avoided, and the glass fiber sheet can be brought into a guide hole 1a with the movement of the plug 3. Lubricating ability can thereby be ensured. |
