PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulator capable of suppressing resonance due to the transmission of vibrations from an exhaust system component.SOLUTION: A heat insulator 1 is equipped with a first heat insulator 2 covering a high-temperature area of an exhaust system component; and a second heat insulator 3 covering a low-temperature area of the exhaust system component. The first heat insulator 2 and the second heat insulator 3 are made to have different natural frequencies, and free end parts 24 and 33 of them are opposed to each other at a predetermined interval in a plate thickness direction. In a state that vibrations of the exhaust system component are transmitted to the heat insulator 1, even if the frequency of the vibrations matches with the natural frequency of one of the first heat insulator 2 and the second heat insulator 3, vibrations of the other heat insulator acts so as to suppress the resonance of the one heat insulator by air vibrations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
