PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a printer in which printer driver information is reliably transferred from a host device to the printer and the printer driver information is stored in the printer.SOLUTION: A control method for a printer comprises: a handshake processing step between a printer and a host device; a step of receiving driver information of a printer driver from the host device subsequent to the handshake processing step; and a step of storing the driver information in a storage section with which the printer is provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
