PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element in which wide distribution of light has been achieved.SOLUTION: A light-emitting element comprises: a translucent substrate having a first principal face, a second principal face opposite the first principal face, a first side face adjacent to the first principal face and second principal face, a second side face opposite the first side face, a third side face adjacent to the second side face, and a fourth side face opposite the third side face; a semiconductor laminate stacked on the first principal face of the translucent substrate; a first light reflective member covering the first side face, second side face, third side face and the second principal face of the translucent substrate; and second light reflective member covering the face of the semiconductor laminate, which face is opposite the translucent substrate. In the translucent substrate, a cross-section perpendicular to the first principal face and intersecting the third side face and fourth side face has a first figure including a first projecting part.
