PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a feeding failure due to a high feed speed by providing a feed control means for controlling the feed speed of a sheet feeding means to be switched between two or more stages, and switching the sheet feeding means to a low speed according to the detection of a sheet feeding failure to refeed the sheet. SOLUTION: When feeding is started according to a command from a controller 3, the turning force of an input gear 21 is transmitted through an intermediate gear 24a to a speed change gear 23a and a power transmission gear 4a by a clutch 22a, so that a feed roller 1 is rotated. Thus, the sheet is picked up from a sheet cassette and fed by the feed roller 1. At this time, in the case where a sheet feeding failure such as a sheet delay, or a sheet misfeed is detected, a command for switching from a clutch 22a to a clutch 22b is output. The turning force of an input gear 21 is transmitted through the intermediate gear 24b to a speed change gear 23b by the clutch 22b, thereby reducing the rotating speed of the feed roller 1 by half to be switched to the low speed side. |
