BALLAST FOR DISCHARGING LAMP AND LIGHTING FIXTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ballast for discharging lamp in which variations of characteristics can be reduced and noise can be reduced without requiring a vibration-proof means employing adhesive. SOLUTION: The ballast body 11 fixed in a case body defined by a bottom plate and a case caulked thereto has a pair of E type laminate cores 15 having side legs 22 abutting each other. Recesses (press part receivers) 23 are provided at the corners of the side legs 22 of both cores 15 on the side opposite to the forward end face 22a thereof. A bead (core pressing part) 35 projecting to the backside of the side plate part 33 of a case being stacked on the outer surface 15b of the side leg is formed integrally with the side plate part. When the case body is assembled, each bead 35 is engaged in each recess 23 in order to press both cores 15 in the abutting direction. According to the structure, the forward end faces 22a of the side legs 22 of both cores 15 are abutted strongly.
