PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for obtaining a viewing environment of a video receiving apparatus which is made easy to use by narrowing down channels.SOLUTION: There is provided a video receiving apparatus including: a transmitter configured to transmit place information input by a user to an external server; a receiver configured to receive channel list setting information which is based on the place information from the external server; a scanner configured to scan receivable channels among channels represented by the channel list setting information; and a listing unit configured to collect information representing the receivable channels into a channel list.
