ASSESSMENT METHOD AND DEVICE FOR IDENTIFYING A CHILD'S SEAT ON A MOTOR VEHICLE SEAT

The invention concerns a method for identifying a child's seat on a motor vehicle seat, which consists in determining a detection system activation model. Said detection system is mounted in the seat or beneath a seating surface. Said device comprises at least three detection cells, which are distributed over the seating surface. The detection cells are activated, in each case, when a force acting on one of the respective detection cells exceeds a first predetermined threshold value. The activation model consists of activated detection cells. One symmetry characteristic (SK) is determined based on the activation model. The symmetry characteristic (SK) enables the child's presence or absence on the seat to be identified.
