<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switched reluctance motor having reduced torque ripples. <P>SOLUTION: This switched reluctance motor, forming a plurality of energized phases 8, 9, 10 by winding wirings 2a to 2L, respectively around a plurality of salient poles 1a to 1L of a stator 1, includes a stator 1, having the salient poles 1a to 1L arranged at intervals along a wall surface and formed with a cylindrical space region inwardly by the salient poles 1a to 1L; and a rotor 3 placed rotatably in the space area of the stator 1, where a plurality of salient poles 4a to 4h, having top end surfaces facing the salient poles 1a to 1L of the stator 1 are arranged on the outer circumferential wall.
