PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crank shaft wherein a crank web and a counter weight each have improved equivalent bending rigidity and reduced equivalent mass. SOLUTION: The crank shaft 4 comprises the crank web 14 connecting a main journal 13 to a crank pin 5, and the counter weight 15 provided across a main journal center 17 of the crank web 14 on the opposite side to the crank pin 5. On an inside face 14a of the crank web 14 at the side of the crank pin, a step 16 is provided concentrically with the main journal center 17. A portion closer to the main journal center 17 than to the step 16 is formed thinner on the outer periphery side beyond the step 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
