PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal construction of a pressure resistant vessel superior in economic efficiency capable of positively preventing a backup ring from projecting from the outer circumference of a lid body by thermal expansion. SOLUTION: Fitting parts 6, 7 having an annular groove part 8 are formed on the lid body 4 for opening and closing an opening part 3 formed on one end of a cylindrical barrel part 2 of a container main body. A seal ring 20 and the backup ring 21 are attached inside the groove 8. An annular protruding part 26 protruding to the seal ring side is formed on the inner peripheral side of an end face of the backup ring 21 opposing the seal ring 20. An annular recessed part 27 in which the protruding part 26 is engaged is formed on an opposing end face 20a of the seal ring 20. By the protruding part 26 and the recessed part 27, each of opposing faces 28, 29 of stepped parts formed between the inner peripheral side and the outer peripheral side is formed by tilted faces gradually tilting to the center side of the fitting parts 6, 7 from the seal ring 20 side to the backup ring 21 side.
