PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system capable of reducing a mounting space.SOLUTION: A station device 10 includes: station-side transmission means (downlink E/O 12, 13 having ON/OFF functions) for transmitting an optical signal to a subscriber device through a first or a second optical transmission line; station-side reception means (uplink O/E 15, 16) for receiving an optical signal from the subscriber device; determination means (control unit 14) for determining an optical transmission line state on the basis of the state of the received optical signal; and on determination that one optical transmission line state is deteriorated, switchover means (control unit 14) for switching to another optical transmission line. A subscriber device 30 includes: subscriber-side transmission means (coupler 37) for transmitting an optical signal to the station device through the optical transmission line; multiplexing means (coupler 31) for multiplexing the signals of the first and second optical transmission lines; and subscriber-side reception means (downlink O/E 32) for receiving the optical signal multiplexed by the multiplexing means. |
