The disclosure of the present invention pertains to a solid state image pickup device and an electronic apparatus that can eliminate a retention unit which is for retaining information in a pixel. When a charge distribution unit has distributed, as Dist1, a pixel signal SIG to a first ADC, only the pixel signal of reflection light is distributed. When the charge distribution unit has distributed, as Dist2, a pixel signal SIG to a second ADC, the pixel signal of background light and of (a portion of) reflection light are distributed. When the charge distribution unit has distributed, as Dist3, a pixel signal SIG to a third ADC, the pixel signal of background light and of (the remaining portion of) reflection light are distributed. During a period in which a signal is not being acquired, a discharge transistor functions as an overflow unit that disposes of a charge, as Dist4. The disclosure of the present invention can be applied to, for example, a solid state image pickup device used in an image pickup device. |
