A process for the preparation of a compound of formula (I) wherein the chiral carbon is in the (R) or in the (S) configuration; R is selected from hydrogen and COR1; R1 is selected from hydrogen, C1-C6-alkyl and OR2; R2 is selected from C1-C6-alkyl and benzyl, said benzyl being optionally substituted by one or more C1-C6-alkyl groups; said process comprising reducing a compound of formula (II) wherein R is defined as above, with an oxidoreductase of SEQ ID NO: 1 in the presence of a cofactor and of a cosubstrate regenerating said cofactor. |
