The invention specifies a circuit breaker (1) which comprises a housing (2), a switching shaft (7) which is rotatably mounted in the housing (2), and also a contact arm (8) which is rotatably mounted in the switching shaft (7) and has a switching contact (9) arranged on it. The circuit breaker (1) further comprises a braid (17), which establishes an electrical connection to said contact (9) and a current conductor (10) which is fixedly arranged in the housing (2), and also an operating apparatus (6) and/or tripping apparatus for rotating the switching shaft (7) and, respectively, the contact arm (8). Furthermore, a magnet (18) is arranged in the region of the braid (17), the magnetic field (H) of said magnet being oriented such that the Lorentz force (F) which results from a current flow (1) through braid (17) and from the magnetic field (8) assists opening of the switching contact (5, 9). |
