PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel metal container with a hairline pattern in which a variety of decoration patterns can be formed in partially forming the hairline pattern, and a production method thereof. SOLUTION: In the metal container with a hairline pattern provided with a hairline pattern part 3 which is constituted of a number of fine protrusion and recess stripes 31 on the surface of a cylindrical container drum part 2, supposing a processing line 3a which axially extends to the surface of the container drum part 2, with its at least one end positioned halfway in the container drum part 2, a movable region, wherein the processing line 3a is moved circumferentially while changing the phase in the axial direction, is made to be the hairline pattern part 3 for forming the hairline pattern, dividing the surface of the container drum part 2 into the hairline pattern part 3 and the background part 4.
