PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for transferring folded cloths to a sorting apparatus, capable of improving space utilization efficiency and simplifying the constitution of the apparatus. SOLUTION: A folded cloth transfer method for transferring the folded cloths before final folding to the sorting apparatus for sorting them by respective sizes is characterized by that the center part of the cloth is scooped with a sword, the cloth is vertically elevated in the state of being folded into two with the sword and the cloth is delivered to the sorting apparatus. A folded cloth transfer apparatus continued to the sorting apparatus for sorting the cloths by the respective sizes and a folding apparatus for folding the cloths arranged at the lower part is characterized by that it is provided with the sword for scooping the center part of the cloth before the final folding carried from the folding apparatus, vertically elevating it in the state of being folded into two and delivering it to the sorting apparatus.
