A bi-directional CWDM(Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) signal transmission system and a method for allocating wavelengths therein are provided to prevent transmission characteristics from being deteriorated due to backscattering and reflection by applying respective different wavelengths to upward and downward signals within an identical channel. A signal, outputted from a downward transmitter(Tx_W1), passes through an optical fiber(Fiber_f) via an optical circulator(C_W1) and the first MUX/DEMUX. Then, the signal is delivered to a downward receiver(Rx_E1) after passing through the second MUX/DEMUX, an optical fiber(Fiber_1), and an optical circulator(C_E1) in turn. A signal, outputted from an upward transmitter(Tx_E1), passes through the optical circulator(C_E1), the optical fiber(Fiber_1), the second MUX/DEMUX, the optical fiber(Fiber_f), the first MUX/DEMUX, and the optical circulator(C_W1) in turn. Then the signal is delivered to an upward receiver(Rx_W1).
