<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently reducing power consumption without disturbance in a user's use by setting a reduction target rate of the power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having power-saving mode of reducing the consumption of the electric power used by a fixing unit 6 generating heat at a fixing temperature set in a use mode computes the power consumption after the reduction by being inputted with the reduction target rate of the power consumption of the fixing unit (SP51), computes the preheating temperature at the time of a preheating mode (SP52), sets the novel preheating temperature in the case of above a lower limit value and calculates the power consumption and the reduction rate of the computation period upon lapse of the computation period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
