A burn-in reduction device, a self-luminous display device, an image processing device, an electronic device, a burn-in reduction method, and a computer program are provided to vary a contrast ratio of display brightness steplessly or selectively according to brightness of outside light, thereby suppressing expansion of variation of a deterioration rate between self-luminous devices arranged within the display screen. An illumination sensor(3) detects brightness of outside light incident on an area near a display screen. A contrast controller(5) controls a drive condition of a display device(7) according to the detected brightness to reduce a contrast ratio of display brightness steplessly or in a stepwise manner. If the outside light incident on the area near the display screen is bright, the contrast controller reduces the contrast ratio of the display brightness by raising a black level of a displayed image. When the outside light incident on the area near the display screen is dark, the contrast control section reduces the contrast ratio of the display brightness by raising a black level of a displayed image. |
