<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information processing device that can reduce a data size of a polygon constituting map information. <P>SOLUTION: Coordinate data on a polygon in a mesh defined by setting the coordinates of each constituting point on the sides of the polygon in the sequence of tracing the sides in a prescribed direction is stored as map information sectioned by a mesh. When the polygon includes a side on a boundary of the mesh, either the side on a boundary of the mesh or one of at least two (2) continuous sides of the polygon is recognized as a side not for storage. The coordinate data on the constituting points on the sides of the polygon except the side not for storage is stored in a map information storage 3.
