PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic shock absorber changing damping characteristics without causing an economic disadvantage and an increase in size. SOLUTION: This pneumatic shock absorber has: a cylinder 1; a piston 2 which is slidably inserted into the cylinder 1 and which demarcates two pressure chambers R1, R2 in the cylinder 1; a passage 3 allowing the two pressure chambers R1, R2 to communicate with each other on the outside of the cylinder 1; a partition member 4 installed in the passage 3 and having an extension side port 4a and a pressure side port 4b; an extension side relief valve 5 placed on the partition member 4 and opening and closing the extension side port 4a; a pressure side relief valve 6 placed on the partition member 4 and opening and closing the pressure side port 4b; an extension side biasing member 7 for biasing the extension side relief valve 5 in the direction for closing the extension side port 4a; a pressure side biasing member 8 for biasing the pressure side relief valve 6 in the direction for closing the pressure side port 4b; an extension side adjusting means 9 for adjusting the biasing force of the extension side biasing member 7 from the outside; and a pressure side adjusting means 10 for adjusting the biasing force of the pressure side biasing member 8 from the outside.
