PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device that can more surely suppress failure of a reading sensor caused by discharge from a transparent member provided at a reading position.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes a feeding path along which a medium is fed, a reading unit which has a transparent member in contact with the surface of the medium fed along the feeding path, and reading means for reading the surface of the medium through the transparent member. The reading unit includes a box-like body for housing the reading means, and an electrically conductive sheet material disposed between the inside of the box-shaped body and the reading means. The electrically conductive sheet material is disposed between the inner surface of the box-shaped body and a side surface which constitutes the periphery of the reading means and is a side surface out of a side surface at the upstream side and a side surface at the downstream side which intersect to the feeding direction of the medium, the side surface being located at a side where at least the electrostatic path length from the transparent member to a circuit board equipped to the reading means is short.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
