PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control apparatus capable of controlling a vehicle with a small amount of data so as to travel along a route from the present position to a destination.SOLUTION: A vehicle control apparatus, for use in controlling a vehicle so as to travel along a route from a present position to a destination, includes: a point information storage part, incorporated in the vehicle, for storing a steering change point for the vehicle correlated with map information and a vehicular speed target point of the vehicle; a lane progression distance calculation part for calculating a lane progression distance that is a distance of the vehicle progressing on a lane from a lane-entering position where the vehicle has entered the lane constituting a route; a data generation part, incorporated in the vehicle, for generating lane travel map data on the basis of the map information, the steering change point, vehicular speed target point, the vehicle position and the vehicular progress direction; and a vehicle control part for controlling the vehicle on the basis of the vehicle position, the vehicular lane progression distance and the lane travel map data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
