<p>In order to enable the clients to remotely monitor the quality of a marine seismic survey as it is being performed by a seismic survey vessel, a data base of the quality of an attribute, typically coverage (fold), of the seismic data being acquired by the survey is built up on the vessel as the survey progresses. The same data is simulatneously transmitted by satellite link to a shore base, where it is used to concurrently build up a duplicate data base identical to the data base on the vessel. A processor at the shore base uses a Java application program to provide processed data for producing a display of the quality of the data in each part of the survey area, and responds to requests from remotely located clients to compress and encrypt the processed data and send it over the Internet to the clients for reconstitution and display.</p> |
