Representation method for local irregularities in 3-dimensional component e.g. automobile body component, for structural mechanics finite element analysis

The representation method uses standard computer-aided design techniques for representation of irregularities (11.1-11.6) in a 3-dimensional body (10) according to a given mesh pattern, divided into outer segments, an end segment and an inner segment via a partitioning technique, with division of the outer segments into hexahedron elements which can be sub-divided into further hexahedron elements. The surface structure of the inner element is defined by the partioning of the outer elements and is partioned into hexahedron elements which can be sub-divided into further hexahedron elements.
