PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for adjusting the thickness of flowing molten glass ribbon are provided to obtain a glass sheet of a constant thickness by directing the flow of cooling gas toward molten glass adjacent to a drawing route. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for adjusting the thickness of flowing molten glass ribbon includes a forming body(12), an enclosure, and a cooling unit. The forming body includes forming sides(16a, 16b). The enclosure is arranged around the forming body. The cooling unit is combined with the enclosure. The cooling unit includes a fixture(42), a pivot unit, and a cooling tube(40). The pivot unit is arranged in the fixture, and the cooling tube is combined with the pivot unit. The cooling tube directs the flow of cooling gas to molten glass(20) which flows over the forming body. |
