PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide preparation antigens of bacterial cells belonging to Bartonellaceae, the preparation antigens being suitable for use in the infection measurement by enzyme immunoassay, and to provide methods for detecting, using the preparation antigen, an antibody to the bacterial cell, the antibody being present in a sample, and diagnostic kits for detecting, using the preparation antigen, an antibody to the bacterial cell, the antibody being present in a sample, and further methods for producing a vaccine using the preparation antigen.SOLUTION: A method for preparing the antigen derived from a bacterial cell belonging to Bartonellaceae comprises (a) collecting bacterial cells belonging to Bartonellaceae; (b) treating with a low concentration surfactant the bacterial cells collected in the step (a), and subsequently centrifuging to recover precipitates; (c) re-treating with a highly concentrated surfactant the precipitates recovered in the step (b), and subsequently centrifuging to recover supernatant; and (d) purifying with ion exchange column chromatography the supernatant recovered in the step (c), and the method enables preparation antigens having greatly improved sensitivity and specificity to be provided.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
