PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the nucleus hydrogenation of an aromatic compound without using hydrogen for the improvement of safety and the diversification of a hydrogen source.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for the nucleus hydrogenation of an aromatic compound where primary alcohol, water and an aromatic compound are contacted at a reaction temperature of 300 to 350°C in the presence of a catalyst obtained by carrying palladium into a carrier such as active carbon, and hydrogen is added to the aromatic ring carbon of the aromatic compound.
