PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the fluidization of a molten steel in a die for preventing the capture of mold powder and deoxidized products to a slab, and to provide a method for judging the quality of the slab, in a continuous casting of the molten steel. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the fluidization of a molten steel in a die, when a slab is continuously cast while applying a magnetic field from a magnetic field generator 19 in such a manner that the molten steel in the die 3 is rotated to the horizontal direction, two or more temperature measurement elements 21 are arranged to a width direction at the rear face of each die long side copper plate in a range far by 10 to 135 mm from a meniscus 16 in the die to a slab drawing direction; the width direction distribution in the temperature of the die long side copper plate is measured, and, with the width center of the die long side copper plate as the center, in such a manner that the average value (Tub) of the die temperature distribution on the upstream side in the rotating direction of the molten steel by a traveling magnetic field is made higher than the average value (Tdown) of the die temperature distribution on the downstream side in the rotating direction of the molten steel, the traveling magnetic field is applied. Further, in the method for judging the quality of a slab, surface quality is judged based on a difference (ΔT) between the average value (Tup) and the average value (Tdown).
