摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having a hard coating layer for exhibiting excellent peeling resistance and chipping resistance by high-speed intermittent cutting.SOLUTION: In the surface-coated cutting tool, a hard coating layer having a lower layer composed of a Ti compound layer including a TiCN layer of at least one layer and an upper layer composed of an α type AlOlayer, is formed by vapor deposition, and (a) on a crystal grain of the TiCN layer, a frequency rate of an inclination division within a range of 0-10 degrees of an inclination formed by a normal of a {110} surface of a TiCN crystal grain to a normal of a surface of a tool base body is 50% or more of the whole, (b) an AlOcrystal grain of the upper layer just above the lower layer also has a wedge-shaped crystal structure, and on the AlOcrystal grain of the structure, a frequency rate of an inclination division within a range of 0-10 degrees of an inclination formed by a normal of a {1-100} surface occupies 15-35% of the whole, and (c) on the AlOcrystal grain of the whole upper layer, a frequency rate of an inclination division within a range of 10-20 degrees of an inclination formed by a normal of a (0001) surface is 50% or more of the whole.
